I love that feeling of utter physical exhaustion. Hopefully your injury will continue to heal and by the time it's rock season you'll be good to go.

I've had to take more time off from running than I'd like because of my hip problem, but luckily for me that's all it really affected. I just try to focus on other things that I CAN do, not what I CAN'T do when I'm injured.

Re: Petzl Helmet Giveaway: Comment to Win!

A little late for the comments, but...

I was hit while wearing a helmet in my first few years of ice climbing. Received a mild concussion. Hit again about 5yrs later, receiving a moderate concussion. That was NOT fun! Numerous close calls on rock, I consider myself a magnet for falling objects. Had I not been wearing my helmet in any incidents I think of, I would be dead. Im pretty certain if I get hit again I will no longer be climbing. My helmet goes on the second I am near a climbing area and usually does not come off until well away from any potential hazards. There have been occasions when I find it a high risk area and a partner forgot or refuses to put on their harness. I have no problems walking away and calling it a day. It is not worth it.

I find it fun to decorate my helmet with goofy gumball machine stickers. Detracts from the lack of attractiveness and starts fun conversations!

Re: Rosie’s Toesies Review

Wow, I actually had no idea that it was important to use a foot-specific cream. It's just stupid not to. It's not an inconvenience. Once you have it on you forget it's there. Many times I will wear a helmet even belaying on a sport route. You never know what type of rockfall may occur, or the climber may drop some gear on accident. I don't think being hit in head by a quickdraw falling from 80 feet would feel too great. The moral of the story is, you aren't any cooler or any dirtbaggier for not wearing a helmet. Put one on!

Re: The North Face 2011 Cat’s Meow Sleeping Bag

Thanks! Look at the Grand Canyon it all was once solid rock but little by little rock eroded and fragments fell. Even a small pebble falling from high above can do considerable damage to ones cranium.
